During today's church service our Pastor talked about people who wrap themselves in the traditions and rituals of the church but do not really carry Christ in their hearts. "Christ doesn't put much value on looking busy", he said.
Penn State immediately sprung to mind. With one phone call, Mike McQueary had the ability to get a monstrous predator off the streets, But instead Coach McQueary ran to his Dad for advice and together they hatched a plan that would ease Mike's conscience, cover his ass, and protect his job. Obviously completely ignoring the needs of the victim is an occupational hazard of the "look busy" moral code that is clearly SOP at Penn State.
But ever the optimist, let's also have a stunner of a happy sort. Knowing that the Kingdom is awash with Potter fanatics, a friend sent me a link to this video. In a real world that so often disappoints, a story that celebrates friendship, bravery, loyalty, intelligence, compassion, and imagination never fades, it only finds new ways to inspire us.
