The Techno Failings of a Traveling Kingdom

Photo via SPO Reflections

The Royal Family is at this moment happily ensconced in the Kingdoms west coast enclave, aka., Nana and Papas house in Palm Springs.  The wee ones are out riding in Papas' golf cart, Nana is napping, and the Countess posts while watching the palm trees sway in the breeze.  Not too shabby.

The Kingdom intended to post as usual using the automated posting function.  File that under EPIC FAIL.  But now that we have a firm home base we'll be posting all week with an occasional west coast twist in the format.

The Countess awards the trips first gold star to United Airlines.  It's been a long time since the Kingdom has traveled with United and after this flight we have to wonder why.  Reasons why United may very well become the official airline of the Kingdom.

1) Guess who boards first.  Not kids.  Not Quintuple Platinum Executive Club Members.  Current and retired US military with valid ID board first on all flights.  Classy.

2)  A 757 is the way to travel coast to coast.  Frankly we'd rather travel with 110 people than 250 any day.

3)  MUCH more room in economy class.  Anyone who flies American Airlines coach will feel like they're in business class.

4)  The Royal Baggage was in hand 20 after the plane landed AND we shared a baggage carousel with three other flights.

5)  Despite a 6pm departure there was no meal in economy class, but there were olives, hummus, and salami to snack on.  We'll live.

This is the first place the Count goes after landing in CA, always.  The Countess once watched the Count strike up a conversation with a complete stranger at a backyard barbecue because the guy was sporting an In-N-Out Burger t-shirt.  Within minutes they were chatting and smiling like reunited fraternity brothers.  That's just how it is with In-N-Out Burger.  Without question the best fast food burger in the US.

A cocktail awaits my subjects.  'Till Monday then.
